Viet Coffee Project:
Behind the brand is solo female-founder Vivian Vo, who migrated to Australia from Vietnam all by herself at the age of 17. Knowing that Vietnam is the second-largest coffee producer in the world and having sipped plenty of specialty coffee back home, Vivian was surprised when she couldn’t find any cafés or retail stores in Australia selling Vietnamese specialty coffee!
Spurred by curiosity, she decided to investigate by asking her local cafés. Yet, the response she received was both unexpected and disheartening. Roasters and baristas explained to her that Vietnamese coffee beans were considered dirty, inferior, and unworthy of being served as specialty coffee in Australia.
Vivian felt this wasn't right. After some further research, she learned that this was a global misconception, one that was effectively excluding Vietnamese coffee producers from the international supply chain. Determined to challenge this damaging narrative head-on, Vivian founded the Viet Coffee Project, aiming to give these overlooked producers a fair go!
