    Background:

    The hybrid Parainema variety was created in the 1980's in Honduras by the organisation: Instituto Hondureño del Café (IHCAFE). It's a selection that is tolerant to most major coffee diseases and is famous for winning the Cup of Excellence in both 2015 and 2017.

    It's a selection of Sachimor, a hybrid of the Costa Rican Villa Sarchi variety and the Timor Hybrid. It's growing in popularity on Honduras as it also resistant to some nematodes, wind and the climate. It's an exciting variety as it has both good cup qualities and is a resistant variety, which is rare.

    Lucila and her family grow this lot on their small farm in Santa Bárbara. It's a great representation of a new age Hondurans without relying on exotic processing techniques.
